{"id":43,"date":"2020-08-07T12:09:15","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T12:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/?p=43"},"modified":"2020-08-07T12:11:44","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T12:11:44","slug":"justice-for-comrade-vera-uwaila-omozuwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/2020\/08\/07\/justice-for-comrade-vera-uwaila-omozuwa\/","title":{"rendered":"JUSTICE FOR  COMRADE VERA UWAILA OMOZUWA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In solidarity with all African students Union &#8211; AASU, women students association WOSWA condemns the rape and murder of comrade Uwa, a 22-year-old student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State, Nigeria on June 4, 2020.\u00a0<br>The victim was found lying in a pool of blood at a parish of the Redeemed\u00a0Christian Church of God, RCCG after she had left home to study at the Church. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"455\" class=\"wp-image-44\" style=\"width: 450px;\" src=\"https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa-.jpg\" alt=\"vera-uwa-woswa\" srcset=\"https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa-.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa--296x300.jpg 296w, https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa--1012x1024.jpg 1012w, https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa--768x777.jpg 768w, https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa--830x840.jpg 830w, https:\/\/woswa.org\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/vera-uwa-woswa--230x233.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><br>We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Uwaila Omozuwa.\u00a0<br>It is unfortunate that\u00a0 this incident is not an isolated case of femicide experienced all over the world and especially in Africa.\u00a0 It is sad that\u00a0 we are witnessing this incident when we also have to deal with serious pandemic like COVID-19.<br>Fellow Comrades we need to cometogether strongly\u00a0 and condemn\u00a0 all forms of Gender Based Violence especially during this time that we have lost a comrade.<br>It&#8217;s time the Nigerian Authorities and Students work together towards ensuring that Justice is served for the murder of Comrade Uwa and perpetrators face the full consequence of their actions according to law on sexual offense act and murder.\u00a0<br>Fellow comrades it&#8217;s time for action.
